Privacy Policy
Hot Dog Log ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is a social media application that lets you discover, share, and celebrate hot dogs. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you register, we collect your email address, username, and a hashed password. You may also optionally provide a profile photo and bio.
Content you post. We store photos, captions, comments, and other content you submit to the App.
Social data. We record follower/following relationships, likes, and interactions between users.
Device & notification tokens. If you enable push notifications, we store your device's push token to deliver notifications.
Usage data. We may collect standard log data such as your IP address, device type, operating system, and in-app activity (e.g., screens visited, features used) to operate and improve the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate, and improve the App.
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
- Analyze photos you submit to verify they contain hot dogs (using automated image recognition).
- Send push notifications you have opted into.
- Respond to support requests or enforce our Terms of Service.
- Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We use Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) and Google Cloud Vision API (hot dog image analysis) to operate the App. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
- Push notification services. Device tokens are transmitted through Expo's push notification infrastructure and the underlying platform services (Apple APNs / Google FCM).
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.
- Business transfers. If Lake Missoula Ventures, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before this occurs.
4. Public Content
Posts, usernames, and profile photos you share on Hot Dog Log are visible to other users of the App by default. Do not post content you wish to keep private.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. You may contact us to request deletion of your account and associated data, after which we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law.
6. Children's Privacy
Hot Dog Log is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your Choices & Rights
Account information. You can update your profile at any time in the App.
Notifications. You can disable push notifications in your device settings or within the App.
Access & portability. You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by contacting us.
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Contact us to exercise any such rights.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (TLS) and hashed passwords to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
